To perform an oil change, warm up the engine slightly, then turn it off. Remove the oil drain plug and let the old oil drain into a pan. Replace the oil filter. Reinstall the drain plug and fill the engine with the recommended oil type and amount. Check the oil level using the dipstick and add more if necessary.
The recommended tire pressure for the BMW F 800 GT 2015 is 36 psi for the front tire and 42 psi for the rear tire. Always check the pressure when the tires are cold for accurate readings.
If the bike does not start, check the battery connections and charge if necessary. Ensure the kill switch is in the 'Run' position. Check the fuel level and fuel pump operation. If the issue persists, inspect the fuses and spark plugs.
The service interval is approximately every 6,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first. This includes oil changes, checking brake fluids, and inspecting the drive belt among other checks.
To adjust the suspension, locate the adjustment knobs on the front forks and the rear shock absorber. Turn the knobs to increase or decrease the preload and damping according to your preference and riding conditions.
Use a nitrite-free, silicate-free coolant with a 50/50 mix of distilled water and coolant. Ensure it is compatible with aluminum engines. BMW's own brand or a high-quality equivalent is recommended.
To replace the brake pads, remove the caliper bolts and slide the caliper off the rotor. Remove the old brake pads and install new ones. Reattach the caliper and tighten the bolts to the specified torque. Pump the brake lever to seat the pads.
If the ABS warning light stays on, check the wheel sensors for dirt or damage. Ensure the ABS fuse is intact. If the issue persists, a diagnostic check at a BMW service center may be necessary to identify the fault.
Regularly inspect the drive belt for signs of wear, cracks, or damage. Ensure the tension is within the specified range. Clean the belt with a mild detergent and water if needed. Replace it according to the service schedule or if any damage is observed.
To store the bike for winter, clean it thoroughly and apply a protective wax. Fill the fuel tank and add a fuel stabilizer. Change the oil and check the coolant level. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the bike with a breathable cover and store it in a dry, sheltered area.
