To break in your BMW F 800 GS 2010, avoid high RPMs and full-throttle starts for the first 600 miles. Gradually increase the engine speed and load, and vary your speed to ensure all engine components wear in evenly.
The recommended oil type for the BMW F 800 GS 2010 is synthetic 15W-50 or 10W-40 motorcycle oil, meeting API SL or higher and JASO MA2 specifications.
Tire pressure should be checked at least once a week and before any long trips. Ensure the tires are cold before checking to get an accurate reading.
First, check the battery connections and charge. Ensure the kill switch is in the 'run' position. Verify fuel supply and inspect fuses. If the problem persists, consult a professional mechanic.
Regularly clean and lubricate the chain every 500 miles or after riding in wet or dusty conditions. Adjust the chain tension to the manufacturer's specifications, typically allowing for 30-40mm of slack.
If the ABS warning light remains on, it could indicate a fault in the ABS system. Check the ABS sensor connections and wheel speed sensors. If unresolved, have the system checked by a BMW professional.
Improve fuel efficiency by maintaining proper tire pressure, using recommended oil, avoiding aggressive acceleration, and ensuring regular maintenance of the air filter and spark plugs.
For winter storage, clean the motorcycle thoroughly, change the oil, fill the fuel tank and add stabilizer, disconnect the battery, and store the bike in a cool, dry place. Use a cover to protect it from dust.
To adjust the suspension for off-road use, increase the preload and damping settings on both the front and rear suspension to accommodate rougher terrain and ensure better control.
Regular maintenance includes oil changes every 6,000 miles, checking and adjusting valve clearances every 12,000 miles, inspecting brake pads and fluid, and checking the coolant level.
