The recommended tire pressure for the front tire is 36 psi and for the rear tire is 42 psi. Always check the tire pressure when the tires are cold.
It is recommended to change the oil and oil filter every 6,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first. Regular oil changes help maintain engine performance and longevity.
The BMW F 800 GS 2008 requires synthetic 15W-50 motorcycle oil. Ensure the oil meets or exceeds API SL or JASO MA2 standards.
To adjust the chain tension, place the bike on its center stand. Loosen the axle nut and adjust the chain tensioners on both sides equally until the chain has about 30-40 mm of slack. Tighten the axle nut securely afterwards.
Use a high-quality ethylene glycol-based coolant with corrosion inhibitors suitable for aluminum engines. The coolant should be mixed with distilled water in a 50/50 ratio.
To reset the service light, you will need a diagnostic tool compatible with BMW motorcycles, such as a GS-911. Follow the tool's instructions to reset the service indicator.
Common electrical issues include faulty fuses and battery problems. Check all fuses for continuity and ensure the battery is fully charged and terminals are clean. If the problem persists, a professional diagnostic may be required.
To clean the air filter, remove it from the airbox and gently tap it to remove loose dirt. If heavily soiled, wash it with mild soap and water, let it dry completely, and re-oil it lightly before reinstalling.
If the bike is overheating, check the coolant level and ensure there are no leaks. Inspect the radiator for obstructions and ensure the cooling fan operates when needed. If issues persist, consult a professional technician.
To replace the brake pads, remove the caliper from the disc, retract the pistons, and remove the old pads. Install new pads, ensuring they align properly, and reattach the caliper. Test the brakes before riding.
