To activate the cruise control, press the 'CRUISE' button on the right side of your steering wheel. Once the 'CRUISE MAIN' light appears on your dashboard, accelerate to your desired speed and press the 'SET/-' button to maintain that speed.
If the cruise control is not engaging, check if there are any warning lights on the dashboard. Ensure that you are driving at a speed above 25 mph, as the system does not engage below this speed. Also, check if the cruise control system has been switched on by pressing the 'CRUISE' button.
To increase the set speed, press the 'RES/+' button. To decrease it, press the 'SET/-' button. Each press will adjust the speed by approximately 1 mph. You can also hold the button for more continuous adjustment.
It is not advisable to use cruise control in heavy traffic or on winding roads, as the system is designed for steady-paced highway driving. In such conditions, manual speed control is safer and more responsive.
You can deactivate the cruise control by pressing the 'CANCEL' button, applying the brakes, or turning off the system using the 'CRUISE' button on the steering wheel.
The cruise control may turn off automatically if the vehicle speed drops significantly, the brakes are applied, or if a system fault is detected. Ensure that all systems are operating correctly and consult your manual or a technician if the problem persists.
Using cruise control can help improve fuel economy on long drives by maintaining a consistent speed, reducing unnecessary acceleration and deceleration. However, it may not be as efficient on hilly terrain where manual control might be more economical.
The cruise control system generally requires little maintenance. However, ensure that the steering wheel controls and brake pedal switch are functioning correctly. Regular vehicle maintenance checks should cover these aspects.
The 2016 Acura RDX does not come with adaptive cruise control as a standard feature. It is equipped with a traditional cruise control system that maintains a constant speed set by the driver.
On steep inclines, the cruise control may not maintain speed effectively, requiring manual acceleration. On declines, it may cause the vehicle to exceed the set speed, necessitating manual braking to maintain control.
