The recommended oil type for the Yamaha YZ250FE 2014 is a 10W-40 or 10W-50 fully synthetic oil. The oil capacity is approximately 1.1 liters (1.16 US qt) without an oil filter change and 1.2 liters (1.27 US qt) with an oil filter change.
The air filter should be cleaned every 10 hours of use under normal conditions. If you are riding in dusty or muddy environments, it may require more frequent cleaning or replacement.
The correct spark plug for the Yamaha YZ250FE 2014 is an NGK CR8E. The spark plug gap should be set to 0.7-0.8 mm (0.028-0.031 inches).
To adjust the suspension, use the compression and rebound damping adjusters on both the front forks and rear shock. For softer terrain, reduce compression and increase rebound damping. For harder terrain, increase compression and reduce rebound damping. Always make adjustments in small increments and test ride the bike.
After every race, check and clean the air filter, inspect and lubricate the chain, check tire pressure, inspect brakes and suspension for wear or damage, and perform a general bolt check to ensure all fasteners are tight.
If the bike won't start, check the fuel supply, ensure the kill switch is in the run position, inspect the spark plug for fouling, and verify the battery is charged. If these steps don't resolve the issue, further inspection of the electrical system may be necessary.
Common signs of clutch wear include slipping, difficulty shifting, and a spongy clutch lever feel. To address these issues, inspect the clutch plates for wear and replace them if necessary. Also, check the clutch cable for proper tension and lubrication.
To store the bike, clean it thoroughly, change the oil, drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer, remove the battery and keep it on a trickle charger, and store the bike in a cool, dry place. Inflate the tires to prevent flat spots.
For hard-packed surfaces, use a higher tire pressure of around 13-15 psi. For softer terrains, reduce the pressure to about 10-12 psi for better traction. Always check tire pressure before riding.
Performance can be enhanced by upgrading the exhaust system, ensuring regular maintenance, using high-quality fuel and lubricants, optimizing suspension settings for your weight and riding style, and possibly remapping the ECU for better throttle response.
