Yamaha YP20T, YP40T Owner's Manual

To start the Yamaha YP20T/YP40T, ensure the fuel valve is open and the choke is set. Pull the recoil starter firmly until the engine starts. Adjust the choke as necessary once the engine is running smoothly.
Check that the suction hose and strainer are not clogged or damaged. Make sure all connections are airtight and the pump casing is filled with water before starting.
Change the oil after the first 20 hours of operation, then every 50 hours or once a season afterwards. Use SAE 10W-30 oil for best results.
Check the air filter every 25 hours of operation. Clean with soapy water and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Replace if the filter is damaged or excessively dirty.
Drain the fuel tank and carburetor. Remove and clean the spark plug, then add a teaspoon of oil into the cylinder and pull the starter cord to distribute the oil. Store in a dry place.
Ensure that the pump is not running dry and that the cooling fins are clean and unobstructed. Check the oil level and make sure the pump is not overloaded.
Check the fuel level, ensure the fuel valve is open, and verify the spark plug is clean and properly connected. Make sure the engine switch is in the ON position and the choke is correctly set.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 86. Avoid using gasoline containing more than 10% ethanol to prevent damage to the engine.
Periodically drain and clean the fuel tank. Check and clean the fuel filter, and inspect the fuel lines for cracks or damage. Use a fuel stabilizer to prevent deposits.
Check for any loose mounting bolts or hardware. Ensure the pump is on a stable and level surface. Inspect the impeller and bearings for damage or wear.
