To change the oil, first warm up the engine to ensure the oil drains completely. Turn off the engine and place an oil pan under the drain bolt. Remove the drain bolt and let the oil drain completely. Replace the drain bolt and fill the engine with the recommended oil type and amount.
Use Yamalube 4, 10W-40 or a similar high-quality 10W-40 oil designed for ATV engines. Ensure the oil meets or exceeds the JASO MA standard for optimal performance.
Check the battery to ensure it has a full charge. Inspect the spark plug for wear or fouling and replace if necessary. Ensure the fuel is fresh and the fuel valve is in the 'ON' position. Lastly, inspect the ignition switch and wiring for any damage or loose connections.
The recommended tire pressure is 4 psi for the front tires and 4 psi for the rear tires. Always check the pressure when the tires are cold for accurate readings.
Clean the air filter every 20 hours of operation or more frequently if you ride in dusty conditions. Use a suitable air filter cleaner and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for best results.
Thoroughly clean the ATV and apply a coat of wax to protect the paint. Change the oil and filter, fill the fuel tank, and add a fuel stabilizer. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the ATV to protect it from dust and moisture.
To adjust the chain tension, first, loosen the axle nut. Adjust the chain tensioner bolts to move the axle forward or backward as needed. Ensure the chain has about 1 inch of slack at its midpoint. Tighten the axle nut securely after adjusting.
Possible causes of overheating include low coolant levels, a faulty thermostat, a clogged radiator, or a malfunctioning fan. Check and address these components to resolve overheating issues.
To replace the spark plug, remove the spark plug cap and use a spark plug wrench to unscrew the old plug. Check the gap on the new spark plug and adjust if necessary. Install the new spark plug by hand and then tighten with the wrench. Reattach the spark plug cap.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil and oil filter, cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting and adjusting the chain tension, checking tire pressure, inspecting brake pads, and ensuring all nuts and bolts are tight.
