Yamaha YFM45FGZ, YFM45FGHZ Grizzly 450 2010 Owner's Manual

To check the engine oil level, ensure the ATV is on level ground. Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, insert it back without screwing, and then remove it again to check the level. The oil should be between the minimum and maximum marks.
Yamaha recommends using Yamalube 4 10W-40 for optimal performance, but a high-quality 10W-40 motor oil designed for ATVs can also be used.
The oil should be changed every 20 hours of operation or every 160 miles, whichever comes first. Always refer to the owner’s manual for specific maintenance intervals.
First, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel valve is on. Check the battery connections for tightness and corrosion. Inspect the spark plug for fouling. If the problem persists, consult a Yamaha service provider.
Locate the idle adjustment screw on the carburetor. Turn the screw clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it. Ensure the engine is warm before making adjustments.
The recommended tire pressure is 4 psi for the front tires and 4.4 psi for the rear tires. Always check the tire pressure when the tires are cold.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and wash it with a mild soap and water solution. Allow it to dry completely before applying a light coat of air filter oil and reinstalling it.
The wheel lug nuts should be torqued to 40 ft-lbs (54 Nm). It is important to use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightening.
Check the fuse box for any blown fuses and replace them if necessary. Ensure all wiring connections are secure and not corroded. Test the battery voltage; it should be approximately 12.6 volts when fully charged.
Routine maintenance includes checking and changing the engine oil, inspecting the air filter, checking brake pads, lubricating the drive chain, inspecting the tires for wear and proper pressure, and ensuring all bolts and nuts are tight.
