Yamaha YFM45FGX Grizzly 450 2008 Owner's Manual

It is recommended to change the oil every 100 hours of use or every 6 months, whichever comes first. Regular oil changes ensure optimal engine performance and longevity.
Use a high-quality 4-stroke engine oil that is SAE 10W-40 and meets the API service classification of SG or higher. Yamaha recommends their own Yamalube 4, but other brands meeting these specifications are also suitable.
First, check the battery to ensure it is fully charged and the connections are clean and tight. Next, inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, and replace if necessary. Ensure that the fuel supply is adequate and that the fuel filter is not clogged.
The recommended tire pressure for the front tires is 5.0 psi and for the rear tires is 5.0 psi. Always check the tire pressure when the tires are cold for an accurate reading.
Regular maintenance like keeping the air filter clean, ensuring proper tire pressure, and using the recommended grade of engine oil can help improve fuel efficiency. Additionally, avoid excessive idling and maintain a steady speed when riding.
If the ATV overheats, stop the engine immediately and allow it to cool down. Check the coolant level and ensure there are no leaks. Inspect the radiator for obstructions and clean if necessary. If the problem persists, consult a professional mechanic.
To adjust the brakes, locate the brake adjustment screw near the brake lever or pedal. Turn the screw clockwise to tighten the brakes or counterclockwise to loosen them. Test the brakes after adjustment to ensure proper function.
Clean the ATV thoroughly and apply a protective coating to metal parts. Drain the fuel system or add a fuel stabilizer. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Inflate the tires to the recommended pressure and cover the ATV to protect it from dust and moisture.
Locate the air filter housing and remove the cover. Take out the air filter and inspect it for dirt and damage. If it is dirty or damaged, replace it with a new one. Reinstall the filter and secure the housing cover.
Check the transmission fluid level and top off if necessary. Ensure that the shift linkage is properly adjusted and lubricated. If the issue persists, inspect for worn or damaged components and consider consulting a professional mechanic for further diagnosis.
