To check the oil level, ensure the ATV is on a level surface. Remove the dipstick from the oil filler hole, wipe it clean, and reinsert it without screwing it in. Remove it again to check the oil level, ensuring it is between the minimum and maximum marks.
The Raptor 90 requires regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than E10 to prevent engine damage.
If the ATV won't start, check the battery connections and ensure they are tight. Verify that the fuel valve is on and there is fuel in the tank. Check the spark plug for fouling and replace if necessary.
The recommended tire pressure for the front tires is 4.4 psi and for the rear tires is 4.4 psi. Always check the tire pressure when the tires are cold.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 20 hours of operation or every month, whichever comes first. This includes checking the oil, air filter, and tire pressure. Annual maintenance should include a complete inspection by a Yamaha dealer.
If the engine overheats, stop the ATV immediately and let the engine cool. Check the coolant level and ensure the radiator is not blocked. If the problem persists, consult a Yamaha dealer.
To adjust the chain tension, place the ATV on a level surface. Loosen the rear axle and adjust the chain tensioner bolts until the chain has about 1 inch of slack in the middle. Tighten the axle securely after adjustment.
Yamaha recommends using Yamalube 4, a 10W-40 engine oil, which is specifically designed for their engines. Alternatively, any high-quality 10W-40 oil designed for 4-stroke engines can be used.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the air filter. Wash it with a mild detergent and warm water, rinse thoroughly, and let it dry completely. Lightly oil the filter with air filter oil before reinstalling it.
If the ATV is making unusual noises, inspect it for loose parts and tighten any that are found. Check for any signs of wear or damage. If the noise persists, have the ATV inspected by a Yamaha dealer.
