The recommended engine oil for the Yamaha XV250E C Star 2014 is SAE 10W-40, API service SG or higher, JASO standard MA.
The oil should be changed every 3,000 miles or 5,000 kilometers, or every 6 months, whichever comes first.
The recommended tire pressure is 28 psi for the front tire and 32 psi for the rear tire when riding solo.
Check the battery for charge, inspect the spark plugs, and ensure the fuel supply is adequate. Also, verify that the kill switch is in the 'run' position.
Regular maintenance includes oil changes every 3,000 miles, checking tire pressure monthly, chain lubrication every 600 miles, and a full service every 12,000 miles.
Loosen the rear axle nut, adjust the tension using the chain adjusters on both sides of the swingarm, ensuring equal adjustment on both sides, then retighten the axle nut.
Stop the bike in a safe location, turn off the engine, and let it cool down. Check the coolant level once cooled, and inspect for any leaks or blocked airflow to the radiator.
Remove the seat, detach the side covers, unscrew the air filter cover, and replace the old air filter with a new one. Ensure the new filter is seated properly before reassembling.
Possible causes include a blown fuse, a burnt-out bulb, or a loose connection. Check the headlight fuse and bulb first, then inspect the wiring connections.
Inspect the battery terminals for corrosion, ensure the electrolyte levels are sufficient, and check the battery charge using a multimeter. Clean any corrosion and top-up electrolyte if necessary.
