For optimal performance, use Yamalube 10W-40 or an equivalent high-quality motor oil that meets or exceeds the specifications outlined in the owner’s manual.
The oil should be changed every 6,000 miles (10,000 km) or 12 months, whichever comes first, under normal riding conditions.
The recommended tire pressure is 29 psi (200 kPa) for the front tire and 36 psi (250 kPa) for the rear tire, when cold.
To adjust the chain tension, loosen the rear axle nut and adjust the chain adjusters on either side of the swingarm to achieve proper slack, which should be 45-55 mm. Tighten the axle nut to the specified torque.
If the battery is dead, you can jump-start it using another 12V battery or a portable jump starter. Ensure the bike is turned off before connecting the jump leads, and follow the positive to positive, negative to negative sequence.
To improve fuel efficiency, maintain proper tire pressure, adhere to regular service intervals, use recommended fuel, and ride smoothly without abrupt acceleration or deceleration.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the air filter, and clean it with compressed air or mild detergent if it's a washable filter. Ensure it is completely dry before reinstalling.
Begin by checking the battery for charge and connections. Inspect fuses and wiring for damage or corrosion. Use a multimeter to ensure the alternator and other electrical components are functioning correctly.
To winterize, clean the motorcycle thoroughly, change the oil and filter, add fuel stabilizer to a full tank, disconnect the battery, and store the bike in a dry, covered place. Consider using a bike cover and tire stands to prevent flat spots.
For off-road riding, adjust the front and rear suspension settings to be softer to absorb bumps. Consult the owner's manual for specific damping and preload settings based on rider weight and terrain.
