It is recommended to use SAE 10W-40, API service SE, SF, SG type or higher for the Yamaha XT250 series.
The oil should be changed every 3,000 miles or every 6 months, whichever comes first, to ensure optimal engine performance.
The recommended tire pressure is 22 psi for the front tire and 25 psi for the rear tire.
To adjust the chain tension, loosen the rear axle nut, adjust the chain adjusters on both sides evenly, and ensure there is a slack of 30-40 mm at the midpoint of the chain. Tighten the axle nut after adjustment.
Check the fuel level, ensure the kill switch is set to 'Run', inspect the battery charge, and examine the spark plug for fouling. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
Maintain regular servicing, keep tires properly inflated, avoid excessive idling, and ride at a steady speed to improve fuel efficiency.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, inspecting brakes, lubricating the chain, checking tire pressure, and inspecting the air filter.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, clean it with compressed air or wash it with soapy water, let it dry completely, and re-install it.
The correct spark plug gap is 0.7 to 0.8 mm (0.028 to 0.031 inches) for optimal engine performance.
To store your Yamaha XT250 for winter, clean the bike thoroughly, fill the fuel tank, add fuel stabilizer, change the oil, disconnect the battery, and cover the bike to protect it from dust and moisture.
