The recommended tire pressure for the Yamaha XT250 2011 is 22 psi (150 kPa) for the front tire and 25 psi (175 kPa) for the rear tire.
To perform an oil change, first warm up the engine, then turn it off. Place an oil pan under the engine, remove the oil drain bolt and let the oil drain completely. Replace the oil filter if necessary, reinstall the drain bolt, and refill with the recommended oil type and amount.
The Yamaha XT250 2011 requires 10W-40 or 20W-50 engine oil, depending on the ambient temperature. Ensure the oil is suitable for 4-stroke engines and meets JASO MA standards.
Chain tension should be checked every 500 miles (800 km) or whenever you notice chain slack or noise. Proper tension is crucial for safe riding and to prevent damage to the drivetrain components.
To adjust the chain tension, first place the bike on a center stand. Loosen the axle nut, adjust the chain tension using the adjuster bolts on each side, ensuring equal adjustments on both sides. The chain should have about 1.2-1.6 inches (30-40 mm) of slack. Tighten the axle nut securely.
First, check the battery connections to ensure they are clean and tight. Verify the battery charge status. Inspect the fuses for any that are blown. If the issue persists, check the ignition switch, starter relay, and wiring for any signs of damage or corrosion.
If the engine overheats, stop the bike and turn off the engine immediately. Allow it to cool down before inspecting for coolant levels and possible leaks. Check the radiator for blockages and ensure the cooling fan operates correctly.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the engine oil, inspecting and tensioning the chain, checking tire pressures, inspecting brakes, and checking fluid levels. Perform a thorough inspection every 4,000 miles (6,400 km) or annually.
To clean the air filter, remove the seat and the air filter cover. Take out the filter element and wash it with a mild soap solution. Rinse thoroughly and let it dry completely. Apply a light coat of air filter oil before reinstalling.
Poor acceleration can be caused by a clogged air filter, dirty fuel injectors, or a fouled spark plug. Ensure regular maintenance is performed, such as cleaning the air filter, using fuel injector cleaner, and replacing the spark plug as needed.
