To break in the engine, ride at varying speeds and avoid full throttle for the first 600 miles (approximately 1,000 km). Change the oil after the first hour of operation and then again after the initial break-in period.
The recommended oil type is Yamalube 4, 10W-40, or any other 4-stroke motorcycle oil with a similar viscosity. The oil capacity is approximately 1.27 liters (1.34 US quarts) when draining and replacing the oil filter.
Check the battery charge and connections, inspect the spark plug condition and gap, and ensure the fuel is fresh and the fuel line is not clogged. Also, verify that the kill switch is in the correct position.
Regular maintenance includes changing the oil and filter every 600 miles (1,000 km), cleaning and oiling the air filter, checking and adjusting the chain tension, and inspecting the brakes and tires.
To adjust the suspension, refer to the owner's manual for baseline settings. You can adjust the compression and rebound damping on the front forks and rear shock to suit your riding style and terrain.
The correct spark plug type is NGK CR8E. Make sure to check the gap, which should be set to 0.7-0.8 mm (0.028-0.031 inches).
Remove the air filter from the bike, wash it with a mild detergent and water, let it dry, and then apply an appropriate air filter oil. Reinstall the filter ensuring it is seated properly.
For off-road riding, a general recommendation is 12-15 psi in the front tire and 10-12 psi in the rear tire, adjusting based on terrain and rider preference.
Maintain proper tire pressure, ensure regular maintenance such as oil changes and air filter cleaning, and avoid aggressive throttle use. Installing a fuel management system can also help optimize fuel use.
Common issues include battery drainage and faulty connections. Ensure all electrical connections are clean and tight, and replace the battery if it does not hold a charge. Inspect for any damaged wires or connectors.
