The recommended engine oil for the Yamaha WR250R 2018 is Yamalube 10W-40 or an equivalent oil that meets or exceeds the specifications of API service SE, SF, SG, or higher.
It is recommended to perform an oil change every 3,000 miles or every 6 months, whichever comes first. More frequent changes may be necessary under severe riding conditions.
The recommended tire pressure for the Yamaha WR250R 2018 is 22 psi for the front tire and 25 psi for the rear tire. Always check the pressure when the tires are cold.
To adjust the chain tension on the WR250R 2018, place the bike on a stand, loosen the rear axle nut, adjust the tensioners to achieve 1.2–2.0 inches of slack at the midpoint, then retighten the axle nut ensuring proper alignment.
The spark plug gap for the 2018 WR250R should be set to 0.7–0.8 mm (0.028–0.031 inches).
If your WR250R 2018 is having starting issues, check the battery charge and connections, inspect the spark plug for wear, ensure the fuel supply is adequate, and confirm the kill switch is set to 'Run'.
To clean the air filter, remove the seat, take out the air filter, wash it with a mild detergent, rinse thoroughly, let it dry, apply air filter oil, and reinstall it back into the airbox.
For off-road riding, adjust the front fork rebound and compression to a softer setting and increase the rear shock preload for better handling on rough terrain. Always refer to the manual for specific adjustment settings.
After extended storage, perform a full inspection including checking fluid levels, battery charge, tire condition and pressure, chain lubrication, and ensure all bolts are tightened properly.
To increase fuel efficiency, maintain proper tire pressure, keep the chain lubricated and correctly tensioned, perform regular maintenance, and avoid aggressive acceleration and high-speed riding.
