To properly break in the engine, ride the bike gently for the first 600 miles, avoiding full throttle and high RPMs. Vary the speed and avoid prolonged idling. After the break-in period, change the oil and check all fluid levels.
It is recommended to use a high-quality 10W-40 or 10W-50 motorcycle-specific oil that meets JASO MA standards for optimal performance and protection.
Valve clearance should be checked initially at 600 miles (1,000 km) and then every 6,000 miles (10,000 km) thereafter. Adjust as necessary to maintain optimal engine performance.
The recommended tire pressure is 15 psi for the front tire and 15 psi for the rear tire for off-road use. Adjust pressure according to terrain and load conditions if necessary.
First, check the battery for charge and connections. Ensure the fuel is fresh, and the fuel petcock is on. Inspect the spark plug for fouling or wear, and clean or replace it as needed. Verify that the kill switch is in the correct position.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil every 600 miles (1,000 km), checking the air filter every ride and cleaning or replacing it as needed, lubricating the chain every 300 miles (500 km), and checking tire pressure and brake pads regularly.
To adjust the suspension, consult the owner's manual for baseline settings. Use the compression and rebound damping adjusters on the forks and shock to tune the bike for your weight, riding style, and terrain. Test adjustments incrementally and take note of changes.
Stop the bike immediately and allow it to cool down. Check the coolant level and look for any leaks. Inspect the radiator for blockages and ensure the cooling fan is operational. If overheating persists, consult a professional mechanic.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. Wash it with a mild detergent and water, then rinse thoroughly. Allow it to dry completely before applying air filter oil evenly. Reinstall the filter and cover securely.
Signs include excessive slack, uneven wear, or rust on the chain. Listen for unusual noise or feel for jerky movement while riding. Regularly check the chain tension and alignment, and replace it if it's stretched beyond service limits or shows signs of damage.
