The Yamaha VXS and VXR Waverunner 2015 models require unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use premium unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 or higher.
To perform an oil change, first warm up the engine to ensure the oil flows easily. Turn off the engine and remove the drain plug to allow the old oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug, then fill with the recommended oil type and quantity specified in the owner's manual. Finally, check for leaks and ensure the oil level is correct.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 50 hours of use or annually, whichever comes first. This includes checking the engine oil, fuel system, cooling system, and inspecting the hull and deck for damage. Refer to the owner's manual for a detailed maintenance schedule.
To winterize your Waverunner, thoroughly clean and dry the watercraft, add fuel stabilizer to the tank, and run the engine briefly to circulate it. Drain the cooling system and lubricate moving parts. Finally, store the Waverunner in a dry, covered location to protect it from the elements.
Overheating can be caused by a blocked cooling water intake, low coolant levels, or a malfunctioning thermostat. Check the intake for debris, ensure the coolant level is adequate, and inspect the thermostat for proper operation. Regular maintenance can prevent these issues.
Check the battery connections and charge if necessary. Ensure the fuel tank has fuel and that the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plugs for wear or damage and replace if needed. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
Rinse the hull with fresh water to remove salt and debris. Use a mild detergent and a soft brush to clean the surface. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean cloth. Regular cleaning helps maintain the appearance and performance of your Waverunner.
Symptoms of a failing spark plug include difficulty starting the engine, rough idling, engine misfires, and reduced fuel efficiency. Regular inspection and replacement of spark plugs as part of routine maintenance can prevent these issues.
To improve fuel efficiency, ensure the Waverunner is properly maintained, including regular oil changes and air filter replacements. Avoid carrying unnecessary weight and operate at moderate speeds. Properly inflated tires on trailers can also contribute to better fuel efficiency.
Connect a garden hose to the flushing port and start the engine. Turn on the water and let it run for about 10 minutes to remove salt and debris. Turn off the engine first and then the water to prevent water from entering the engine through the exhaust.
