To perform a basic maintenance check, inspect the hull and deck for damage, check the oil and coolant levels, inspect the jet pump for debris, and ensure the battery is charged. Regularly clean and lubricate the throttle and steering cables.
For winterization, flush the cooling system with fresh water, add fuel stabilizer, change the oil and filter, and remove the battery for storage. Store the Waverunner in a dry place and cover it to protect against dust and moisture.
If your Waverunner won't start, check the battery connections and charge the battery if necessary. Inspect the fuses and ensure the safety lanyard is properly attached. If the problem persists, consult a professional mechanic.
To troubleshoot overheating, ensure the cooling water intake is not blocked, check for debris in the jet pump, and inspect the impeller for damage. Verify that the cooling passages are clear and the thermostat is functioning correctly.
Yamaha recommends using Yamalube 4W 10W-40 engine oil for the VXS/VXR models. It provides optimal performance and protection under a variety of conditions.
It is recommended to inspect the spark plugs every 50 hours of operation or annually, and replace them if they show signs of wear or damage.
Use a mild soap and water solution to clean the hull, and a soft cloth or sponge to avoid scratches. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water and dry with a clean towel. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
Connect a garden hose to the flushing port, start the engine, and let it idle while running fresh water through the system for about 10 minutes. Stop the engine before disconnecting the hose.
To improve fuel efficiency, ensure the engine is well-maintained, the hull is clean, and the impeller is in good condition. Avoid excessive idling and maintain a consistent speed when riding.
Excessive vibration can be caused by a damaged impeller or debris in the jet pump. Inspect and clean the jet pump, and if necessary, have the impeller repaired or replaced by a professional.
