Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the engine oil, inspecting the impeller and jet pump, checking the battery, inspecting the hull and deck for damage, and cleaning the cooling system.
To winterize, flush the cooling system with fresh water, stabilize the fuel, change the oil, remove the battery and store it in a warm place, and cover the Waverunner to protect it from the elements.
It is recommended to use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 (R+M)/2. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than E10.
Check the battery connections and charge, inspect the spark plugs, ensure the fuel is fresh, and examine the starter relay and fuses.
Stop the engine immediately, check for blockages in the cooling system, ensure the cooling water intake is clear, and inspect the cooling hoses for leaks or damage.
Change the engine oil every 50 hours of operation or at least once per season, whichever comes first.
Connect a garden hose to the flush port, start the engine, and then turn on the water. Run the engine for a few minutes to flush out the saltwater, then turn off the water before stopping the engine.
Maintain a moderate throttle, avoid rapid acceleration and deceleration, ensure the hull is clean, and perform regular maintenance to keep the engine running efficiently.
Common signs include reduced acceleration, unusual vibrations, poor top speed, and a whining noise coming from the pump area.
Rinse the Waverunner with fresh water after each use, especially after saltwater exposure. Apply anti-corrosion spray to metal components and store the Waverunner in a dry, covered area.
