The recommended maintenance schedule includes an initial service after the first 10 hours, followed by regular services every 50 hours or annually. This includes oil changes, checking the spark plugs, inspecting the hull and impeller, and flushing the cooling system.
To flush the cooling system, attach a garden hose to the flushing port, start the engine, and then turn on the water. Let it run for a few minutes, then turn off the water and subsequently the engine. Ensure the water is flowing before starting the engine to prevent overheating.
Use Yamalube 4W 10W-40 oil or a similar high-quality marine-grade 4-stroke engine oil. Always ensure the oil meets the specifications outlined in the owner's manual.
First, check the battery for charge and connections. Ensure the safety lanyard is properly attached. Check the fuel level and ensure the fuel is fresh. If the problem persists, inspect the spark plugs and fuel lines for clogs or damage.
Winterizing includes flushing the cooling system with antifreeze, stabilizing the fuel, fogging the engine, changing the oil, lubricating moving parts, and disconnecting the battery. Store in a dry, cool place with a cover.
Maintain regular service, ensure the impeller and hull are clean, avoid carrying unnecessary weight, and operate at optimal speeds. Smooth acceleration and maintaining a steady speed can also help improve fuel efficiency.
Excessive vibration may be due to debris in the impeller or damage to the impeller or wear ring. Inspect and clean the impeller area, and replace any damaged parts. Regular inspection and cleaning can prevent this issue.
To replace the spark plugs, remove the ignition coils, unscrew the old spark plugs with a spark plug wrench, and install new ones. Ensure they are properly gapped and tightened to the correct torque specifications.
Use a mild detergent and water with a soft brush or sponge to clean the hull. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the surface. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water after each use to remove salt and debris.
To prevent corrosion, rinse the watercraft with fresh water after each use, especially in saltwater. Apply a corrosion inhibitor spray on metal parts and ensure all electrical connections are dry and secure. Regular maintenance and inspections are key.
