Regular maintenance includes changing the oil and oil filter every 4,000 miles, checking the brake fluid levels, inspecting the brake pads for wear, and ensuring the drive shaft is properly lubricated. Additionally, inspect the tires for proper inflation and wear, and clean or replace the air filter as needed.
If your VMAX won't start, check the battery for sufficient charge and ensure the terminals are clean and connected properly. Verify that the kill switch is in the 'Run' position. Inspect the fuel level and ensure the fuel valve is open. If the problem persists, consult a Yamaha technician.
Start by checking the coolant level and inspect for any leaks in the cooling system. Ensure the radiator is free of debris and the fan is operational. If overheating continues, consider flushing the cooling system or replacing the thermostat.
The recommended tire pressure for the VMAX 2015 is 36 psi for the front tire and 42 psi for the rear tire. Always check the tire pressure when the tires are cold for an accurate reading.
To adjust the suspension, use the adjusters on the front forks to set the preload, compression, and rebound damping to your preference. For the rear suspension, adjust the preload and damping by rotating the adjusting ring and damping adjuster. Refer to the owner's manual for specific settings based on rider weight and riding style.
Spark plugs should be inspected every 8,000 miles and replaced if necessary. It's recommended to replace them every 16,000 miles to maintain optimal engine performance.
Yamaha recommends using Yamalube 10W-40 or 20W-50 engine oil for the VMAX 2015, depending on the ambient temperature. Always use a high-quality motor oil designed for motorcycles.
To check the drive shaft fluid, ensure the bike is on a level surface and remove the filler cap. The fluid should be at the bottom of the filler hole. To adjust, add Yamaha Shaft Drive Oil Hypoid SAE 80 until it reaches the correct level.
Clean the motorcycle thoroughly and apply a protective wax. Change the oil and filter, top off the fuel tank, and add a fuel stabilizer. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the motorcycle with a breathable cover and store it in a dry, temperature-controlled environment.
To reset the trip meter, press and hold the 'Select' button on the instrument panel until the current trip meter reading resets to zero. Ensure the key is in the 'On' position when performing this action.
