Use a high-quality 4-stroke motorcycle oil with a viscosity of 10W-40 or 20W-50, depending on your local climate conditions.
To adjust the chain tension, loosen the axle nut, adjust the chain adjusters evenly on both sides of the swingarm, and retighten the axle nut. Ensure there is about 1-1.5 inches of slack in the chain.
For optimal performance, maintain the front tire at 18 psi and the rear tire at 22 psi. Adjust according to load and riding conditions.
Inspect the air filter every 3,000 miles and replace it if it is excessively dirty or damaged to ensure optimal engine performance.
The correct spark plug gap for the Yamaha TW200 is 0.6-0.7 mm (0.024-0.028 inches).
Check the battery charge, inspect the spark plug, ensure the fuel valve is on, and verify the kill switch is in the 'run' position. If issues persist, consult a professional mechanic.
Stop the engine immediately, allow it to cool, check coolant levels, and inspect for any coolant leaks. If overheating persists, consult a professional technician.
Regularly inspect brake pads for wear, check brake fluid levels, and ensure the brake lines are free of air. Replace brake pads before they are worn down to the metal.
Clean the motorcycle thoroughly, add fuel stabilizer, disconnect the battery, and store it in a dry, temperature-controlled environment. Cover the bike to protect it from dust and moisture.
Remove the seat and gas tank to access the valves, use a feeler gauge to check the clearance, and adjust using the appropriate tools. Consult the service manual for specific clearance specifications.
