Yamaha TTR90M 2000 Owner's Manual

To adjust the chain tension, first place the bike on a stand to elevate the rear wheel. Loosen the axle nut and adjust the chain adjusters on both sides evenly until there's about 1-1.5 inches of slack in the chain at the midpoint. Tighten the axle nut and recheck the tension.
Use a high-quality 10W-40 4-stroke motorcycle oil. Change the oil every 600 miles or every 6 months, whichever comes first. Always check the oil level before each ride.
First, check the fuel supply and ensure the fuel petcock is in the 'ON' position. Verify that the spark plug is clean and properly gapped. Inspect the air filter for clogs. If the bike still doesn't start, check the carburetor for blockages.
The recommended tire pressure for the front tire is 15 psi and for the rear tire is 15 psi. Always check the tire pressure before each ride to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the air filter. Clean it with a mild detergent and warm water, then rinse thoroughly. Allow it to dry completely before applying air filter oil. Reinstall the filter and cover securely.
Ensure the cooling fins on the engine are clean and unobstructed. Check the oil level and quality, as poor lubrication can cause overheating. Make sure the engine isn't idling for prolonged periods, especially in hot weather.
Check and adjust the valve clearance every 3,000 miles or if you hear unusual engine noise. Proper valve clearance ensures optimal engine performance and longevity.
The recommended spark plug type is NGK CR6HSA. The spark plug gap should be set to 0.6-0.7 mm. Regularly inspect the spark plug for wear and deposits.
To improve suspension performance, ensure the fork oil is fresh and at the correct level. Consider upgrading to stiffer springs or adjusting the pre-load settings if available, to better suit your riding style and weight.
Drain the fuel from the tank and carburetor, change the oil, and remove the battery to store in a warm, dry place. Lubricate all cables and moving parts, and cover the bike to protect it from dust and moisture.
