To winterize your SuperJet, first flush the engine with fresh water to remove salt and debris. Then, add fuel stabilizer to a full fuel tank, run the engine for a few minutes, and fog the cylinders with fogging oil. Drain all water from the engine and store the Waverunner in a dry place.
Perform regular maintenance every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first. This includes checking the fuel system, replacing the spark plugs, inspecting the hull and deck, lubricating moving components, and inspecting the electrical system.
If your SuperJet won't start, check the battery for charge and connections, inspect the spark plugs for wear or fouling, ensure the fuel is fresh and the fuel lines are clear, and verify that the kill switch is not engaged.
Use Yamalube 2-W or a high-quality TC-W3 certified 2-stroke marine oil. It is crucial to use the right oil to ensure optimal engine performance and longevity.
Rinse the hull with fresh water after each use to remove salt and debris. Use a mild detergent and a soft brush to clean tough spots. Apply a marine wax to protect the hull's surface from UV damage and maintain shine.
If overheating occurs, check the cooling water intake for clogs, ensure the cooling lines are clear, and inspect the impeller for damage. Do not continue to operate the engine until the issue is resolved to prevent damage.
To replace the spark plugs, first remove the engine cover. Detach the spark plug caps and use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plugs. Install the new plugs, ensuring they are the correct type and gap, and reattach the spark plug caps.
Common signs of impeller wear include reduced acceleration, vibrations, unusual noises, and a decrease in top speed. Regularly inspect the impeller for dings, bends, or any obstruction that might affect performance.
To perform a compression test, remove the spark plugs and insert a compression gauge into one cylinder at a time. Crank the engine and note the pressure reading. Compare it with the manufacturer's specifications to assess engine health.
Ensure all safety equipment is onboard, confirm the fuel and oil levels, and check weather conditions. Use a trailer designed for personal watercraft and launch the SuperJet in a designated area, keeping safety and local regulations in mind.
