To connect the Yamaha P-85 to a computer, use a USB-MIDI interface. Connect the MIDI OUT port of the P-85 to the MIDI IN port of the interface, and the MIDI IN port of the P-85 to the MIDI OUT port of the interface. Then, connect the interface to your computer via USB. Install any necessary drivers and configure your DAW to recognize the MIDI device.
If the keys are not responding, first ensure the power adapter is properly connected and the instrument is turned on. Check if the volume is turned up and headphones are not plugged in. If the issue persists, try resetting the piano to its factory settings by holding down the highest white key while turning on the power.
To record a song, press the Record button. The LED will flash indicating the piano is ready to record. Start playing your song. Press the Record button again to stop recording. To play back, press the Play button.
Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with a mild soap solution. Gently wipe the keys avoiding excessive moisture. Dry immediately with a separate clean cloth. Avoid using chemical cleaners or alcohol-based solutions.
To adjust the touch sensitivity, press and hold the [METRONOME] button and press one of the C2 (Soft), D2 (Medium), or E2 (Hard) keys to select your preferred sensitivity.
To transpose, hold the [DEMO/SONG] and [METRONOME] buttons simultaneously, then use the C3 to B3 keys to set the desired transpose value. Each semitone is represented by a key, with C3 being no transposition.
Check if the volume is turned up and headphones are unplugged. Verify the power adapter connection and ensure the piano is turned on. If connected to external speakers, check the connections. A factory reset may also resolve sound issues.
Press the [METRONOME] button to start. Adjust the tempo by holding the [METRONOME] button and pressing the C3 to B3 keys. Stop the metronome by pressing the [METRONOME] button again.
To layer voices, press and hold one voice button and then press another voice button. Both voice LEDs will light, indicating that both voices are active.
Yes, you can use a sustain pedal. Connect it to the SUSTAIN jack on the back of the P-85. Compatible pedals include the Yamaha FC3A or FC5.
