The recommended oil type for the Yamaha LZ300AETOU is Yamalube 2-M FC-W® 2-Stroke Outboard Oil or a comparable TC-W3® oil.
First, check the battery connections and ensure they are clean and tight. Verify that the fuel is fresh and the fuel lines are not clogged. If issues persist, consult the ignition system and spark plugs.
To winterize, flush the engine with fresh water, stabilize the fuel, fog the cylinders with fogging oil, and disconnect the battery. Store the engine in an upright position.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 100 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. This includes checking the fuel system, changing the oil, and inspecting the propeller.
If overheating occurs, shut down the engine immediately. Check for blockages in the water intake and ensure proper water flow. Inspect the impeller and thermostat if the issue persists.
Locate the idle speed adjustment screw on the carburetor. Turn the screw clockwise to increase idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it, ensuring the engine runs smoothly.
Use regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid fuel with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent damage to the engine.
The engine hours can be checked via the digital display on the tachometer. Refer to your user manual for specifics on accessing this feature.
To replace the impeller, remove the lower unit, take out the old impeller from the housing, and install a new one in the correct orientation. Reassemble the unit carefully.
Use the Yamaha Diagnostic System (YDS) software and a compatible interface cable to connect to the engine's ECU. Follow the software instructions to perform a diagnostic check.
