To connect your Yamaha HTR-5660 to a TV, use an HDMI cable if available. Connect one end to the HDMI OUT port on the receiver and the other end to the HDMI IN port on your TV. If HDMI is not available, you can use component or composite cables for video and optical or RCA cables for audio.
First, ensure that the speakers are properly connected to the receiver and that the correct input source is selected. Check if the receiver is on mute or the volume is set too low. Also, inspect speaker wires for any damage. If using a digital connection, ensure the audio settings on the source device match the receiver's capabilities.
To perform a factory reset, turn off the receiver. Then, press and hold the "STRAIGHT" button and while holding it, press the "MAIN ZONE" button to turn on the receiver. Hold the "STRAIGHT" button until "INIT CANCEL" is displayed. Use the "PROGRAM" selector to choose "ALL" and press "STRAIGHT" to confirm. This will reset all settings to factory defaults.
The Yamaha HTR-5660 does not support firmware updates via a network connection. Firmware updates can only be performed via a service center. Contact Yamaha support for more information on available updates and service options.
The Yamaha HTR-5660 does not have built-in Bluetooth capabilities. To connect Bluetooth devices, you can use an external Bluetooth adapter that connects to the receiver’s audio inputs.
For optimal surround sound, set the receiver to a surround sound mode like Dolby Digital or DTS. Use the YPAO (Yamaha Parametric Acoustic Optimizer) feature to automatically calibrate the speaker settings based on your room acoustics. Adjust the speaker levels and distances manually if needed for personal preference.
Check that all HDMI cables are securely connected and are of good quality. Ensure that the input source on the receiver matches the HDMI port used. Try a different HDMI cable or port to rule out faulty equipment. Update your TV firmware if possible and make sure the HDMI settings on both the TV and receiver are compatible.
Regularly dust the exterior and ensure ventilation openings are not blocked. Check all cable connections periodically to ensure they are secure. Avoid placing the receiver in overly humid or dusty environments. If any issues arise, consult the user manual or contact Yamaha support.
Insert the batteries into the remote control, ensuring correct polarity. Refer to the user manual to program the remote for controlling other compatible devices by entering the appropriate codes. Test the remote to confirm it can operate the receiver and other devices.
The receiver may shut down due to overheating, so ensure it is well-ventilated. Check for any short circuits in speaker wiring. Additionally, if there is an impedance mismatch with connected speakers, it might trigger protection mode. Inspect and address these issues to prevent unexpected shutdowns.
