Regular maintenance should be performed every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. This includes checking and replacing spark plugs, inspecting the fuel system, and lubricating moving parts.
It is recommended to use Yamalube 2-W semi-synthetic engine oil for optimal performance and protection of your Yamaha GP800R Waverunner.
If your GP800R does not start, check the battery connections, ensure the fuel shut-off valve is open, inspect the spark plugs, and verify that the safety lanyard is properly attached.
If the engine is overheating, check for blockages in the cooling water intake, inspect the cooling hoses for leaks or damage, and ensure the water pump is functioning correctly.
To winterize your Waverunner, drain all water from the engine, add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank, remove and store the battery, and cover the Waverunner to protect it from the elements.
Signs of a worn-out impeller include reduced acceleration, unusual vibrations, and a decrease in top speed. Inspect the impeller for damage or wear and replace it if necessary.
To improve fuel efficiency, ensure regular maintenance is performed, keep the hull clean, avoid carrying unnecessary weight, and operate at moderate speeds.
After riding in saltwater, attach a garden hose to the flush port, start the engine, and let fresh water run through it for about 10 minutes to remove salt deposits.
If you experience rough idling, difficulty starting, or poor engine performance, it may indicate that the fuel system requires servicing, such as cleaning the fuel injectors or replacing the fuel filter.
Excessive vibration may be caused by a damaged impeller, debris in the jet pump, or loose engine mounts. Inspect these components and address any issues found.
