It is recommended to perform maintenance every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. This includes oil changes, checking the spark plugs, and inspecting the hull and pump.
Use Yamalube 4W 10W-40 oil for best performance. It is specifically formulated for WaveRunner engines to ensure optimal performance and protection.
If the Waverunner does not start, check the battery connections, ensure the safety lanyard is properly attached, and inspect the spark plugs for wear or damage.
Attach a garden hose to the flush port, start the engine, and then turn on the water. Allow the engine to run for a few minutes to flush out saltwater, then turn off the water before shutting down the engine.
Maintain a consistent speed, avoid rapid acceleration, and ensure the jet pump and hull are clean and free of debris for optimal fuel efficiency.
Immediately shut down the engine and check for blockages in the cooling intake. Allow the engine to cool down before restarting, and ensure that there is adequate water flow.
Clean and dry the Waverunner, add fuel stabilizer, remove the battery, and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover it to protect against dust and pests.
Check the tire sidewall for the recommended pressure, which is typically around 50 PSI. Ensure tires are properly inflated to avoid trailer instability.
Remove the engine cover, disconnect the spark plug wires, use a spark plug socket to remove the old plugs, and install new ones. Ensure they are properly gapped and tightened.
Inspect the hull for damage, check fuel and oil levels, ensure the throttle and steering operate smoothly, and confirm the safety lanyard is functioning.
