The recommended engine oil for the Yamaha FZS Waverunner 2009 is Yamalube 4W 10W-40, which is specifically formulated for marine engines.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 50 hours of operation or at least once a year, whichever comes first. This includes checking the oil level, inspecting the hull, and cleaning the engine cooling system.
If the engine fails to start, check the battery connections, ensure the fuel level is adequate, inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, and verify that the safety lanyard is properly attached.
To prevent corrosion, rinse the Waverunner with fresh water after each use, apply a corrosion protection spray to metal components, and store it in a dry, covered area.
If the Waverunner is overheating, immediately shut off the engine and check for any blockages in the cooling water intake. Ensure that the cooling system is functioning properly and inspect the impeller for damage.
To winterize the Waverunner, drain and flush the cooling system with antifreeze, add fuel stabilizer to the tank, remove and charge the battery, and cover the Waverunner to protect it from the elements.
Store the Waverunner in a cool, dry place, ideally on a trailer or stand. Ensure it is clean and dry, cover it with a breathable cover, and keep the battery disconnected.
To improve fuel efficiency, ensure regular maintenance, use the recommended fuel type, avoid rapid acceleration, and reduce unnecessary weight on the Waverunner.
Check the steering cable for any signs of wear or damage, ensure the steering nozzle is not obstructed, and lubricate the steering system components regularly.
To replace the spark plugs, remove the seat and engine cover, disconnect the ignition coil, use a spark plug socket to remove the old plugs, and install new ones with the correct gap setting, ensuring they are tightened to the recommended torque.
