Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the engine oil, inspecting the spark plugs, flushing the cooling system, checking the fuel system for leaks, and ensuring that the battery is charged and terminals are clean.
If the Waverunner won't start, check the battery connections and charge the battery if necessary. Inspect the spark plugs for wear and replace them if needed. Ensure that there is fresh fuel in the tank and that the fuel lines are not clogged.
It is recommended to use Yamalube 4W 10W-40 oil for optimal performance and protection of the engine components.
To winterize, thoroughly clean the exterior and flush the cooling system. Add fuel stabilizer to a full tank of gas, change the engine oil, and lubricate moving parts. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place.
Stop the engine immediately and let it cool down. Check for any blockages in the cooling intake and ensure the cooling system is not clogged. Inspect the impeller for damage and check coolant levels.
Store your Waverunner in a dry, covered area. Use a protective cover to prevent dust and debris buildup. Ensure it is on a flat surface and away from direct sunlight. Remove any salt or dirt from the hull before storage.
Maintain a consistent speed and avoid rapid acceleration. Ensure the hull is clean and free of marine growth. Regularly check engine components and fuel lines for optimal performance. Use high-quality fuel and keep the engine well-tuned.
Vibration can be caused by damaged or unbalanced impellers, worn engine mounts, or debris caught in the jet pump. Inspect these components and replace or clean them as needed.
Visually inspect fuel lines and connections for any signs of wear or damage. Use your sense of smell to detect any fuel odor, which could indicate a leak. Conduct a pressure test if necessary to identify leaks.
Connect a garden hose to the flushing port. Start the engine and then turn on the water. Allow the water to flow through for a few minutes to clear salt and debris. Turn off the water before stopping the engine.
