Yamaha FZR Waverunner 2011 Owner's Manual

The recommended maintenance schedule includes checking the engine oil and filter every 50 hours, inspecting the spark plugs every 100 hours, and flushing the cooling system after each use in saltwater. Regularly inspect the hull and deck for damage and check steering and throttle cables for wear.
Start by checking the battery connections and ensuring they are clean and tight. Verify the battery charge and replace it if necessary. Inspect the starter motor and solenoid for proper function. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
Use Yamalube 4W 10W-40 or an equivalent 4-stroke marine engine oil that meets or exceeds NMMA FC-W certification. Always check the owner’s manual for specific recommendations.
To improve fuel efficiency, make sure the engine is tuned properly and the hull is clean and free of barnacles. Avoid carrying unnecessary weight and maintain a steady speed instead of frequent acceleration and deceleration.
Overheating can be caused by a clogged cooling system, so check for obstructions in the intake grate and cooling lines. Ensure the water pump is functioning correctly, and inspect the thermostat for proper operation.
First, check the drain plugs to ensure they are secure. Inspect the hull for cracks or damage. If the issue persists, examine the seals around the impeller housing and ride plate for leaks.
To winterize, start by cleaning the Waverunner and flushing the cooling system with antifreeze. Stabilize the fuel with a fuel stabilizer, change the oil and filter, and disconnect the battery. Store in a dry, cool place with a cover.
Attach a garden hose to the flushing port, start the engine, and then turn on the water. Allow the engine to run for a few minutes to flush out salt and debris. Turn off the water before stopping the engine to prevent water from entering the exhaust system.
Excessive vibration may be caused by a damaged impeller or debris in the jet pump. Inspect and clean the impeller and pump area. If vibration continues, check for loose engine mounts or drive shaft issues.
Regularly wash the exterior with fresh water and mild soap to remove salt and grime. Apply a marine wax to protect the finish and check for any damage to decals or paint. Store in a covered area when not in use.
