To perform a basic maintenance check, start by inspecting the hull for any damage, check the oil level, and ensure the cooling system is clear of debris. Additionally, inspect the battery connections and check the fuel level.
First, check the cooling intake for blockages and ensure the impeller is not obstructed. If the issue persists, inspect the cooling hoses for leaks or damage and verify the coolant level.
It is recommended to change the oil every 50 hours of operation or at least once per season, whichever comes first. Always use the oil type specified in the owner's manual.
Clean and dry the watercraft thoroughly. Add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, and remove the battery to store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the Waverunner with a breathable cover to protect it from dust and moisture.
Check the battery connections for corrosion and ensure they are tight. Verify that the battery is fully charged. If the engine still does not start, inspect the starter motor and ignition system for faults.
Regularly inspect the impeller and wear ring for damage or debris. Ensure the pump is lubricated properly and check the seals for wear or leaks.
Maintain a steady speed and avoid rapid acceleration. Ensure the watercraft is not overloaded and keep the hull clean to reduce drag. Regular maintenance, such as changing the spark plugs and air filter, can also improve efficiency.
Immediately return to shore if possible. Check the hull for cracks or damage. Inspect the bilge pump for proper operation and ensure all drain plugs are secure before each ride.
Rinse the exterior with fresh water after each use to remove salt and debris. Use a marine-grade soap and a soft sponge to clean the hull, then dry it thoroughly. Apply a UV-protectant wax to maintain the finish.
Look for unusual noises, reduced performance, or difficulty starting. Check for oil leaks, excessive smoke, or a burning smell, which can indicate engine wear or damage.
