The recommended maintenance schedule includes an initial service at 10 hours, followed by regular servicing every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first.
To winterize, clean the exterior, flush the cooling system, stabilize the fuel, change the oil and filter, lubricate moving parts, disconnect the battery, and store in a dry place.
Yamaha recommends using Yamalube 4W 10W-40 oil for optimal performance and protection.
Check the battery charge and connections, ensure the lanyard is properly attached, inspect the fuses, and verify the fuel level.
Connect a garden hose to the flushing port, start the engine, and run water through the system for a few minutes, then turn off the engine before stopping the water flow.
Inspect the jet pump for debris, check the impeller for damage, and ensure the intake grate is clear. Regularly lubricate the bearings.
Check for obstructions in the cooling intake, ensure the cooling system is flushed, and inspect the thermostat and water pump for faults.
Maintain a steady throttle, avoid rapid acceleration, ensure the hull is clean, and perform regular maintenance on the engine and jet pump.
Rinse with fresh water, use a mild marine soap, scrub with a non-abrasive sponge, and apply a marine-friendly wax for protection.
Remove the engine cover, disconnect the ignition coils, unscrew the old spark plugs, install new ones, and reconnect the ignition coils securely.
