The Yamaha FX Cruiser Waverunner 2005 is designed to run on regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 86. Always avoid using ethanol blends above E10.
To perform an oil change, warm up the engine, remove the drain plug, and let the old oil drain completely. Replace the drain plug, add new oil as specified in the manual, and check the oil level using the dipstick.
It is recommended to perform maintenance every 50 hours or once a year, whichever comes first. This includes checking the engine oil, inspecting the fuel system, and examining the hull and deck for damage.
To winterize your Waverunner, clean the exterior, flush the cooling system with fresh water, add fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank, and store the Waverunner in a dry, covered location. Consider removing the battery and storing it in a warm place.
Check the battery connections and charge the battery if necessary. Ensure there is fuel in the tank and the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plugs and replace them if they are fouled or worn.
If overheating occurs, inspect the cooling water intake for blockages, ensure the impeller is not damaged, and check the cooling water hoses for leaks. Clean or replace any parts as needed.
Attach a garden hose to the flushing port, start the engine, and then turn on the water. Let the engine idle while water flows for several minutes, then turn off the water before stopping the engine.
Remove the spark plug cap and use a spark plug socket to unscrew the plug. Inspect the plug for wear or deposits, check the gap, and replace if necessary. Reinstall by screwing in by hand first, then tighten with a wrench.
While aftermarket parts can be used, it is recommended to use OEM parts to ensure compatibility and maintain performance. Aftermarket parts may not fit perfectly or could void your warranty.
Rinse the hull with fresh water after each use to remove salt and debris. Use a mild soap and sponge for thorough cleaning. For long-term protection, apply a marine-grade wax every few months.
