Regularly clean and lubricate the chain every 500 miles or sooner if ridden in wet conditions. Use a good quality chain cleaner and lubricant. Inspect for wear and adjust tension as specified in the owner's manual.
The recommended tire pressure for the FJ09 is 36 psi for the front tire and 42 psi for the rear tire. Always check the tire pressure when the tires are cold for an accurate reading.
Check the battery for charge and connections, ensure the kill switch is set to 'run', and verify there is fuel in the tank. If the problem persists, inspect the starter relay and fuses.
Use Yamalube 10W-40 or equivalent engine oil. Change the oil every 4,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first, and replace the oil filter every time you change the oil.
Adjust the preload, compression, and rebound settings according to your weight and riding style. Refer to the owner's manual for specific settings and instructions on how to adjust each component.
Stop the motorcycle safely and turn off the engine. Allow it to cool before checking the coolant level and radiator for blockages. Ensure the cooling fan is functioning properly.
Remove the seat and the fuel tank to access the airbox. Unscrew the airbox cover, remove the old air filter, and replace it with a new one. Reassemble in reverse order.
Common issues include blown fuses and corroded connectors. Regularly inspect electrical connections and apply dielectric grease to prevent corrosion. Replace any faulty fuses as necessary.
Loosen the locknut on the clutch lever adjuster and turn the adjuster to achieve the desired free play, which should be about 10-15 mm at the lever end. Tighten the locknut once adjusted.
Regular maintenance includes oil and filter changes, chain lubrication and tension adjustment, brake inspection, tire pressure checks, and coolant level checks. Follow the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual.
