The Yamaha F25SMHA outboard motor is designed to run on regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87.
It is recommended to change the engine oil every 100 hours of operation or once a year, whichever comes first.
To winterize the Yamaha F25SMHA, drain the fuel system, change the engine oil, flush the cooling system with fresh water, and treat the engine with fogging oil.
Check the fuel level, ensure the fuel line is connected, inspect the spark plugs, and verify that the battery is charged.
Regularly inspect the propeller for damage or debris, ensure it is securely fastened, and lubricate the propeller shaft as needed.
To adjust the idle speed, locate the idle speed adjustment screw on the carburetor and turn it slowly until the desired RPM is achieved.
Yamaha recommends using NGK DR6HS or equivalent spark plugs for the F25SMHA model.
Remove the lower unit to access the water pump housing, then inspect the impeller for wear or damage. Replace if necessary.
The trim and tilt system adjusts the angle of the motor to improve performance and fuel efficiency while reducing drag.
Remove all spark plugs, attach a compression gauge to each cylinder, and crank the engine to measure compression levels. Compare with manufacturer's specifications.
