For optimal performance, Yamaha recommends servicing your F25SMHA every 100 hours or annually, whichever comes first. This includes changing the engine oil, inspecting the spark plugs, and checking the fuel system.
First, check the battery charge and connections. Ensure the fuel tank is full and the fuel line is not clogged. Inspect the spark plugs for wear or fouling. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 (R+M)/2. Avoid using ethanol-blended fuels above E10, which can cause performance issues and damage.
To winterize, run the engine with fresh water to flush out salt and debris, stabilize the fuel, and change the engine oil. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Finally, lubricate all moving parts and store the engine in an upright position.
Symptoms include overheating, reduced water flow from the telltale, and unusual noises. Regular inspection and replacement every two years or 200 hours can prevent failure.
Locate the idle adjustment screw on the carburetor. Turn it clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it. Refer to the owner's manual for the recommended RPM settings.
Yamaha recommends using NGK DPR6EA-9 or an equivalent spark plug. Ensure the gap is set to the manufacturer's specifications, typically 0.9 mm (0.035 in).
Maintain a clean hull, use the correct propeller, avoid overloading, and regularly service the engine. Smooth throttle operation and maintaining a steady cruising speed can also enhance fuel efficiency.
Inspect the propeller for damage or debris. Check the engine mounts and ensure they are secure. If the problem persists, have the engine balanced and aligned by a professional.
Ensure the engine is level, remove the oil dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it without screwing it in, and then remove it again to check the oil level. Add oil if the level is below the recommended mark.
