The recommended oil type for the Yamaha F25AEL is Yamalube 4M 10W-30 or any other 4-stroke marine engine oil with an API rating of at least SJ.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 100 hours of operation or at least once a year, whichever comes first.
To flush the engine, attach a garden hose to the flushing port, run the engine at idle, and allow fresh water to circulate through the cooling system for about 15 minutes.
If the engine won't start, check the fuel supply, ensure the battery is charged, inspect spark plugs, and verify that the kill switch is in the correct position.
If the engine overheats, stop the engine immediately, check for cooling water flow, inspect the water intake for blockages, and ensure the impeller is functioning properly.
The spark plug gap specification for the Yamaha F25AEL is 0.7-0.8 mm (0.028-0.031 in).
To winterize, perform an oil change, drain the fuel system or use a stabilizer, flush the cooling system, and fog the engine cylinders to prevent corrosion.
Propeller selection depends on the boat type, load, and desired performance; consult your dealer for recommendations and consider testing different pitches for optimal performance.
To improve fuel efficiency, ensure regular maintenance, use the correct propeller, avoid excessive idling, and operate the engine at optimal RPM ranges.
Check for damaged propellers, loose engine mounts, misaligned shafts, and ensure the engine is properly secured to the transom.
