The Yamaha F250AETX is designed to run on unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 (R+M)/2.
It is recommended to change the engine oil every 100 hours of operation or at least once a year, whichever comes first.
To winterize your Yamaha F250AETX, stabilize the fuel, fog the engine, drain and replace the gear oil, and remove the battery for storage in a cool, dry place.
Check the battery connections, ensure the fuel line is not clogged, verify the kill switch is disengaged, and inspect the spark plugs for wear or damage.
The correct propeller size depends on the boat's weight and application. Consult the Yamaha propeller selection guide or contact a Yamaha dealer for recommendations.
Regularly inspect the water intake screens for debris and ensure a steady stream of water from the cooling water indicator (pee hole) when the engine is running.
Maintain a clean hull, use the correct propeller, operate at optimal RPM, and ensure the engine is well-maintained to improve fuel efficiency.
Immediately stop the engine, check for water flow from the cooling water indicator, inspect the water intake for blockages, and allow the engine to cool before restarting.
Regularly check the engine oil level, inspect the fuel system for leaks, ensure the propeller is free of damage, and verify all electrical connections are secure.
For the first 10 hours, avoid prolonged operation above 3,000 RPM, vary engine speed, and avoid full-throttle operation for extended periods.
