To perform a basic oil change, warm up the engine to operating temperature, then turn it off. Remove the oil drain plug and allow the old oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug and remove the old oil filter. Install a new oil filter and refill with the recommended oil grade.
The maintenance schedule includes regular checks and replacements such as changing the oil every 100 hours or annually, inspecting the propeller, checking the fuel system, and servicing the impeller and thermostat annually.
Check the battery for charge and connections. Ensure the fuel tank has fuel and the fuel line is primed. Inspect the spark plugs for wear or fouling, and verify that the emergency stop switch is in the correct position.
The Yamaha F150TXRD is designed to run on unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using ethanol-blended fuels higher than E10.
To winterize, thoroughly flush the engine with fresh water, stabilize the fuel, change the oil and filter, grease all fittings, disconnect the battery, and store the engine in an upright position.
Check the water intake for blockages and ensure the water pump impeller is functioning. Inspect the thermostat and replace if necessary. Also, confirm that the engine is not operating at too high a RPM for extended periods.
Inspect the spark plugs every 100 hours or annually. Replace them if they show signs of wear, fouling, or damage.
Attach a freshwater hose to the flushing port and run fresh water through the system for at least 15 minutes with the engine off. Ensure the engine is in a vertical position during flushing.
Maintain proper engine tuning by regularly servicing and replacing parts as needed. Use the correct propeller size, avoid excessive idling, and keep the boat's hull clean to reduce drag.
Place the engine in a vertical position, remove the lower and upper oil plugs, and check the oil level. It should be at the lower edge of the upper plug hole. Refill if necessary and ensure no water is present in the oil.
