To start the Yamaha 25MLHF, ensure the gear shift is in neutral, attach the safety lanyard, prime the fuel system by squeezing the primer bulb until firm, and then pull the starter cord quickly and firmly.
The Yamaha 25MLHF should use regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using fuel with more than 10% ethanol content.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the engine oil, inspecting the fuel system, cleaning the spark plugs, and checking the propeller for damage. Follow the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual.
Use Yamalube 4M FC-W 10W-30 or 20W-40 engine oil, or a marine engine oil of equivalent quality.
Check the fuel supply, ensure the safety lanyard is attached, verify the gear is in neutral, inspect the spark plugs, and check for any clogged fuel filters.
Stop the engine immediately, check for obstructions in the water intake, ensure proper oil levels, and inspect the impeller for wear or damage.
Flush the engine with fresh water, drain the fuel system or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, apply fogging oil, and store in a dry place, preferably indoors.
Check the propeller for damage or imbalance, ensure the engine is mounted securely, and inspect the engine mounts for wear.
Locate the idle adjustment screw on the carburetor and turn it incrementally while the engine is running until the desired idle speed is reached.
Inspect the fuel system for clogs, check the air filter, ensure the carburetor is clean, and verify the spark plugs are in good condition.
