Regular maintenance should be conducted every 50 hours of operation, which includes checking the engine oil, air filter, and blades. A more comprehensive service should be performed every 200 hours, including hydraulic system checks and belt inspections.
Uneven cutting can be caused by several factors, such as dull blades, incorrect tire pressure, or uneven deck leveling. Check and sharpen the blades, ensure tires are inflated to the recommended pressure, and adjust the deck height as needed.
Toro recommends using SAE 10W-30 oil with an API service classification of SJ or higher for optimal performance in the Z587L model.
To improve fuel efficiency, ensure the mower is regularly maintained with clean air filters and sharp blades. Operating at the recommended speed and avoiding overloading the mower can also help conserve fuel.
If the mower is not starting, check the battery connections, ensure the fuel tank has fresh gasoline, and inspect the spark plugs for wear or damage. Additionally, verify that all safety switches are engaged correctly.
To replace the blades, first ensure the mower is off and the spark plug is disconnected. Use a wrench to remove the blade bolts, replace the old blades with new ones, and securely tighten the bolts before reconnecting the spark plug.
Excessive vibration can be caused by imbalanced blades, loose components, or damaged pulleys. Inspect the blades for balance, tighten any loose bolts, and check the drive pulleys for damage.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever on the mower deck. Move the lever to the desired cutting height position, ensuring both sides are adjusted equally for an even cut.
Always wear protective gear, such as hearing protection, gloves, and safety glasses. Ensure that bystanders are at a safe distance, and be cautious of obstacles and uneven terrain while mowing.
To winterize the mower, clean the exterior, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer to the gasoline. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place, and cover the mower to protect it from the elements.
