Ensure the mower is on a flat surface, the parking brake is engaged, and the blades are disengaged. Sit on the seat, insert the key, and turn it to the 'ON' position. Pull the choke if the engine is cold and turn the key to start the engine. Release the choke gradually as the engine warms up.
Perform daily checks including tire pressure, fluid levels, and blade sharpness. Change the engine oil every 50 hours of operation and replace the air filter every 100 hours. Conduct a comprehensive inspection annually or every 300 hours.
Check the battery charge, ensure the fuel tank has fresh fuel, and inspect the spark plug for damage or wear. Also, verify that the safety switches are engaged and the fuses are intact.
Check the tire pressure to ensure all tires are equally inflated. Inspect the blades for sharpness and damage, and adjust the deck level if necessary. Ensure the grass is dry and the mowing speed is appropriate.
Park the mower on a flat surface and disconnect the spark plug. Use a wrench to remove the blade bolts, then replace the blades with new ones, ensuring they are oriented correctly. Tighten the bolts securely before reconnecting the spark plug.
Toro recommends using SAE 30 or 10W-30 motor oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and 5W-30 for colder temperatures. Ensure the oil is API service classification SF, SG, SH, SJ, or higher.
Locate the cutting height adjustment levers on each side of the mower. Lift the levers to the desired notch corresponding to the preferred cutting height. Ensure both sides are set to the same height for an even cut.
Clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil and filter, and remove or stabilize the fuel. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the mower to protect it from dust and moisture.
Ensure regular maintenance, including air filter and spark plug replacement. Keep the blades sharp and the tires properly inflated. Avoid overloading the mower and maintain a steady mowing speed.
Always wear protective gear, such as gloves and safety glasses. Check the area for debris or obstacles before mowing. Avoid mowing wet grass and be cautious on slopes. Never leave the mower unattended with the engine running.
