Ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the motion control levers are in the neutral lock position. Turn the ignition key to the 'start' position until the engine starts, then release the key.
Toro recommends using SAE 10W-30 or SAE 30 oil that meets the API service classification of SF, SG, SH, SJ, SL, or higher.
Check the battery connections, ensure the fuel valve is open, and verify the spark plug is in good condition. Also, ensure that all safety switches are engaged.
Regularly check and replace air filters, change the oil and oil filter, inspect the blades for sharpness, and clean the mower deck to prevent grass build-up.
Use the cutting height adjustment lever located on the side of the mower to set the desired cutting height. Ensure the mower is on a level surface when making adjustments.
Check the PTO switch and ensure it is in the 'on' position. Inspect the drive belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
The blades should be sharpened after approximately every 25 hours of use or more frequently if mowing over rough or sandy terrain.
Clean the mower thoroughly, perform all end-of-season maintenance, and store it in a dry, covered area. Disconnect the battery to prevent drainage.
Regular maintenance such as changing the air filter, using the correct oil, and ensuring tires are properly inflated can help improve fuel efficiency.
Check the blades for balance, inspect the spindles and pulleys for wear, and ensure all bolts and fasteners are tight. Replace any damaged parts.
