To perform an oil change, ensure the engine is off and cool. Remove the oil drain plug and let the old oil drain into a container. Replace the drain plug and add new oil as specified in the manual. Run the engine briefly, then check the oil level and top off if necessary.
Check the battery connections and charge if necessary. Ensure there is fresh fuel and that the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for wear or fouling and replace if needed. Verify that all safety switches are engaged.
Blade sharpening should be done every 25 hours of mowing or more frequently if the grass is tough or sandy. Dull blades can tear grass, leading to a poor cut and potential lawn damage.
The recommended tire pressure is typically between 13-15 PSI for the front tires and 10-12 PSI for the rear tires. Check the manufacturer’s guide for the exact specifications.
Ensure the blades are sharp and balanced. Adjust the cutting height to suit the grass type. Mow with a consistent speed and avoid mowing when the grass is wet. Regularly clean the deck to prevent buildup.
At the start of the season, change the oil, replace the air filter, check the spark plug, and inspect the belts for wear. Sharpen the blades and check tire pressures. Ensure all safety features are functional.
Adjust the tracking by using the tracking adjustment bolts located near the drive wheels. Turn these bolts incrementally to correct any left or right drift when the mower is in motion.
Check that the blades are sharp and properly balanced. Inspect the spindle bearings and pulleys for wear and tear. Tighten any loose bolts and ensure that the deck is securely mounted.
Clean the mower thoroughly and remove any debris. Drain the fuel system or add a fuel stabilizer. Store the mower in a dry, covered area to protect it from the elements. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place.
Uneven cutting can be due to dull or unbalanced blades, incorrect tire pressure, or an improperly leveled deck. Check and correct these issues to ensure an even cut.
