To start the Toro Z Master Z147 mower, ensure that the parking brake is engaged, the blades are disengaged, and the control levers are in the neutral position. Turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine starts, then release the key.
The recommended maintenance schedule includes checking the oil level before each use, replacing the oil and oil filter every 100 hours, inspecting the air filter every 25 hours, and replacing it as necessary. Additionally, check the blades, belts, and tires regularly for wear and damage.
If the mower won't start, check the battery connections and charge the battery if needed. Ensure the fuel valve is open and the fuel is fresh. Verify that the spark plug is clean and properly connected. Also, check safety switches and replace if faulty.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the deck lift lever on the mower. Move the lever to the desired cutting height position, which is marked on the mower deck. Ensure that the mower is on a flat surface when making adjustments.
First, check the PTO switch to ensure it is in the 'on' position. Inspect the belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Also, check the PTO clutch for proper operation and make sure all wiring connections are secure.
Blades should be sharpened after every 25 hours of use, or more frequently if mowing abrasive or sandy soil conditions. Dull blades can tear grass, leading to brown tips and poor lawn appearance.
Toro recommends using SAE 30 or 10W-30 motor oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C). For temperatures below 32°F (0°C), use 5W-30 oil. Always refer to the owner's manual for specific oil recommendations.
To replace the air filter, first remove the air filter cover by unscrewing the retaining screws. Take out the old filter and insert a new one, ensuring it is seated properly. Reattach the air filter cover securely.
Uneven mowing can be caused by an improperly leveled deck, worn blades, or tire pressure issues. Check and adjust the mower deck level, sharpen or replace the blades, and ensure the tires are inflated to the manufacturer's specifications.
To store the mower, clean the deck and remove any grass clippings. Drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent engine issues. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the mower to protect it from dust and moisture.
