Ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the motion control levers are in the neutral position. Turn the ignition key to the 'Start' position until the engine starts, then release the key.
Check the PTO switch to ensure it is in the 'On' position. Inspect the drive belts for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Also, examine the electrical connections to the PTO clutch.
Change the engine oil after the first 5 hours of operation, then every 100 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Always refer to the owner's manual for the recommended oil type and viscosity.
Use a garden hose to spray underneath the deck, making sure to remove any grass clippings and debris. For stubborn build-up, use a scraper or a brush. Make sure the engine is off and the spark plug is disconnected before cleaning.
Locate the height-of-cut lever on the mower deck. Move the lever to your desired cutting height setting, ensuring both sides are set equally to avoid uneven cutting.
Verify the battery connections are secure and the battery is charged. Check the fuel level and ensure the fuel shut-off valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for fouling or wear and replace if needed.
Ensure the air filter is clean and replace it if necessary. Keep the mower blades sharp and properly inflated tires. Also, perform regular maintenance as per the service schedule.
Clean the mower thoroughly and check for any damage. Change the oil and filter, remove the battery, and store it in a cool, dry place. Add fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank and run the engine for a few minutes.
Check the tire pressures to ensure they are equal and at the recommended PSI. Inspect the blades for sharpness and alignment. Make sure the mower deck is level from side to side.
Always wear appropriate PPE like gloves and safety glasses. Ensure the area is clear of people and objects before mowing. Never bypass safety interlocks and keep hands and feet away from moving parts.
