To start the mower, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the control levers are in neutral. Then, turn the ignition key to the 'ON' position and wait for the glow plug indicator to go off before starting the engine.
Toro recommends checking the engine oil and air filter before each use, changing the oil every 100 hours, and replacing the air filter every 200 hours. Blades should be sharpened every 25 hours, and the entire mower should be inspected annually.
Check the tire pressure to ensure it's equal on all sides, inspect and adjust the deck level, and ensure the blades are sharp and not damaged. Uneven cutting can often be resolved by addressing these factors.
Check the fuel level and quality, ensure the battery is charged, inspect the spark plugs for wear, and verify the air filter is clean. If these are in order, further investigation of the ignition system may be necessary.
To adjust the cutting height, use the deck lift lever located near the operator's seat. Move the lever to the desired position, which corresponds to the various cutting heights indicated on the machine.
After each use, remove any grass clippings and debris with a brush or low-pressure water. Avoid using high-pressure washers as they can damage components. Ensure the mower is turned off and cool before cleaning.
Maintain regular service intervals, ensure the blades are sharp, keep the tires properly inflated, and avoid overloading the mower. Efficient operation practices can also contribute to better fuel economy.
Check the blades for damage or imbalances, inspect the spindle bearings, and ensure all bolts and nuts are tightened properly. Vibration can often be traced back to these common issues.
Ensure the mower is off and the spark plug is disconnected. Use a blade removal tool to safely detach the blade bolts, then replace the old blades with new ones, making sure the cutting edges face the correct direction. Tighten the bolts securely.
Always wear appropriate safety gear, such as gloves and eye protection. Ensure the area is clear of debris and bystanders. Be familiar with the controls and never leave the mower running unattended.
